Reading Groups

At SYVE, we run reading groups where members take turns presenting and discussing important papers in economics. Each session features one presenter who walks through a paper’s key ideas, methods, and contributions, followed by an open group discussion. Papers are shared ahead of time so everyone can come prepared and engage deeply with the material.

Our reading groups cover a broad range of fields, from microeconomics and game theory to macroeconomics, development, labor, econometrics, trade, and public economics. Whether you are looking to build foundational knowledge or stay current with frontier research, there is a group for you.

Current Reading Groups

Macroeconomics

Covers the economics of growth, innovation, and technological change. Topics include endogenous growth theory, directed technical change, firm dynamics, creative destruction, the allocation of talent, and the role of innovation policy. We read both foundational contributions and recent working papers from leading researchers in the field.
